Bishop Thomas’ Pastoral Letter regarding President Biden’s Inaugural Address

Dear Friends in Christ,
Today I wish to bring to your attention an important statement issued by the Most Reverend José H. Gomez, President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Archbishop Gomez issued this statement on the occasion of the Inauguration of Joseph R. Biden, Jr., now 46th President of the United States of America. Archbishop Gomez pledges the prayers of the Catholic Community for our new President and his family, asking God to grant Mr. Biden the wisdom and courage he needs to lead our nation during these trying and tumultuous times.

UPDATE: SUNDAY, JANUARY 24, 2021

Due to the United States Supreme Court and the 9th Circuit’s decision to reverse the cap for Houses of Worship and as mandated by our Bishop Thomas and the Advisory Council, the Shrine’s crowd capacity has been increased to 150.  Reservations will not be required – Mass attendance is on a first-come, first-served basis.  You will be issued a number and for continued contract tracing, we ask that you write your name and phone number on the slip and to give it back when having your temperature taken at the time of check-in.

For your safety and that of our staff and volunteers, we ask that you have a face mask on, practice physical distancing of 6 feet, and, if you are not feeling well, to stay home.

Please be on time as the church doors will close once Mass is about to begin or the allowed capacity has been reached. Due to the limited time allowed, reservations will be required for Confession only.

HAVE A BLESSED AND SAFE DAY!
